Signature Designer Additions and Updates

Been a while since I pushed out one of these updates. But today seems like a good day for it.

We'll begin with the List o updates:
  • Added Single Playlist Rank Item.
  • Added Playlist Rank List Item.
  • Added Gamercard Reputation Item.
  • Added Halo3 Trophyshot Item. (The "trophy" screenshot from a users bungienet profile)
  • Added Special Item Mask Item.
  • Added "Image" option to the Gamercard Now Playing Item.
  • Added more conditions to the Special Item Condition Item.
  • Added "Fixed" option to the Item Linker.
  • Added ability to re-sort items in an Item Linker.
  • Added splitting of the title in the Single Skill Level Item. (like the Single Stat Item)
  • Added "Save as Copy" to the item form.
  • Changed signature stats to Ranked+Social (everything but customs.)
  • Fixed "Linktacular" and "Steaktacular" so they actually work in the sigs.
  • Upgraded statistic back-end to allow signatures to generate faster.
  • Fixed a bug in the signature usage statistics.

First things first. We're changing the signatures to social+ranked stats (no customs.) I know we changed it to ranked only, and that made sense at the time. But now it makes more sense to include social stats again. With the new playlist ranks pertaining to social games also, it only makes sense to include their stats on the signatures.

On to a better description of some of the updates.

Playlist Rank Items:
These two new items display the new per-playlist-rank that TU2 introduced. Their options mirror the  medals and ranks items. The rank set is just a copy of one of the normal ones turned white only. They're only temporary until someone is nice and does a better job at recreating them for this purpose.

Gamercard Reputation Item:
This item makes use of the 5 star rating found in gamercards.

Halo3 Trophyshot Item:
This grabs and displays the users "trophy screenshot" selected on bungie.net.

Special Item Mask Item:
This item is special (like the linker and userselect items) in that it holds other items. It allows you to upload an image to use as a transparency mask on another item.

As always, if you have any questions or comments or bugs feel free to post here.

Coming Soon.

Since we haven't released any new features for a while I thought it would be cool to kind of give you guys (and gals) a little preview of some of the things we've been working on.

Note: these screenshots are of software that is still in development. It's more for a general idea of what we're doing then an actual shot of what you will get when we're done with it. Everything on them is subject to change.

First off, Updates to playerstats. We're going to be bringing the awesome filtering we have in the game search to playerstats. It won't have as many filters, as some of them don't really apply to aggregates, but it will allow you to filter your stats in ways no other site lets you. It currently has a couple performance problems which we're trying to iron out before releasing it, but hopefully we will finish that soon.

We are also adding another side stats page (like the kpd, levels, uniqueness, and rank pages), linked from the game time stat value. It shows your breakdown of games and kpd by hour or day.

Another new feature that has been in the pipeline for a while is our tournament system. At one point with H2J, I had wanted to create a tournament system, and worked on it, but it was never completed. Hopefully we will see this one get finished for H3J. It will be a lot more halo3-specific in its workings then other tournament sites. And since we do things differently here then on most sites (like 1 account for all your gamertags) we will be able to easily recognize tournament games no matter which account of yours you play on, which will make reporting matches a walk in the park.

The last new feature we have been fleshing out is the "Community Groups." Much like what other websites have, it's a place for users to create groups of members. This list of members will end up with many uses on our site, like custom leaderboards, signature design access, community tournament access, grouped stats, possibly even their own forums/chatrooms. We aren't entirely sure of how far we're going to take it as of now.

Hopefully we will be able to finish up and get these awesome new features to you soon.

We welcome any comments, suggestions, and criticism anyone may have.

Transparent Signature Designs and The Item Condition Item

Now you can create signature designs with a transparent background. Simply select it when starting your signature. While its not photoshop-perfect, It gets the job done.

This example is all of the same design, just on different color backgrounds:

Note: The example above only looks cool if your browser supports transparent pngs.

Update: Added The Item Condition Item information below.

New Skill and KpD Graphs

Since everyone loves graphs, I have added some more.

Clicking on the current level number in the playlist stats block on playerstats will bring you to this new page.

Update:

Clicking on the KpD stat on playerstats will now bring you to this kdp breakdown page.

New Rank Stats and Game Search Filter

Along with the recent addition of the Help & FAQ page. We have added a Rank Stats page and a Gamertag filter to the multiplayer game search page.

The new Rank Stats page is accessible by clicking on the rank image in the header when viewing any stat page. It's much like Rank History page at bungie.net, but with some extra statistics for each rank (mouse over the rank images), and an overall graph at the bottom. Also, the rank images all over the site have changed to a new set created and submitted by Beorn.

The new gamertag search filter in the multiplayer game search page allows you to find all the games that you and someone else were in. Unfortunately, it doesn't let you select between friend or foe, as such a query would take too long to execute. The games it finds with this filter will include (or not include) the gamertag(s) you type in, but they could be on any team.

We have also recently passed the 20,000th gamertag tracked. It was H3 AllStar.

The Help & FAQ's are up and working.

We have created a Help & FAQ's page that can be found by clicking the link in the left sidebar. I have posted as many questions and answers that I could think of but I'm sure that I may have missed some. I can edit and add FAQ's as they become apparent.

                                                  **Notice to the forum regulars**

I want to say "thank you" to all of the guys who try to help with answering questions. It has been a big help and I appreciate it. Now with the creation of the Help & FAQ's page, feel free to link any questions posted by members to the new page. (If I don't beat you to it...) :P

Halo3.Junk.ws now has its own IRC channel.  Feel free to join #junk on irc.bungie.org if you dare.

Make sure to register by typing `/msg nickserv` once you get on so no one else can steal your account on the chat server.

Added decimal precision and thousands separator to single stat item
Added Kills, Assists, Headshots, Deaths, HpD, HpG, Head%, and Time Played statistics to single stat item
Added filter list to single stat item for user selection (only let them select from those checked

Whoa... 26 changes and additions... Maybe I should make these posts a little bit more frequently :p

New User Selection Item:
Basically it adds the ability to let the user select or randomize between any number of items. Much like the linker item, it 'holds' multiple other items. This one differs in that it doesn't change the original alignment of any of the included items. Instead, it switches them on and off based on user selection. There are many uses for this item. But in short, you could have 1 sig, with 9 different designs, and let the user select which one he or she wants to see (Or simply let it change them randomly.) You can initiate the user selection item using the 'little man' icon up next to the link and the item list title. It can hold any item other than another user selection item.

Enjoy :D
